Super Bowl madness has already hit Indy. There are tons of festivities going on downtown and you should be stylish and warm while exploring. If you’re headed out and about to that posh party, nice dinner or the NFL Experience, here’s some tips that stylist Devon Scott has on what NOT to wear.
Show pride, but don’t overdo it: The region will be saturated with New England Patriots and New York Giants fans. Wearing your team colors is fine, but know when to stop (case in point, the girl I saw Friday morning with a Patriots headband, Patriots shirt, Patriots patches on her jeans, and Patriots sneakers). There IS such a thing as too much fan pride.
Understand the weather: This is not Miami. It is generally cold in Indy this time of year. One year ago, the area was hit with an ice storm not seen in years. Don’t wear a mini to your favorite party and expect to walk downtown without a coat (unless you like hypothermia).
Size the situation: If you’re a size six, don’t squeeze into a size two. As hosts, we don’t want the world to think we’re a city of “Muffin Tops” (unless our visitors want to stop by the Flying Cupcake…that’s an exception)
Leave the Uggs and sweats at home: All-too-often, I encounter someone at the mall or running errands in the aforementioned combo. Put the sweats away before you leave the house! Indianapolis has style and what better way to show it than right now!
Remember, winter offers the chance for cute layers, fun coats, and bejeweled hats! Have fun and Happy Super Bowl!
