Yesterday a friend and I were talking about music artists and their personal lives. She pointed out that their personal lives should be separate from their music. It shouldn’t matter what they do in their spare time, but only the music they produce should be judged. “Fans should separate the two when it comes to whether or not they should buy their album,” she said.
What do you think? Do you think an artist life outside their music should be scrutinized or left alone? Do you believe the two should be separate? Do you base your music choice off of an artist personal life?
I have to admit, I’m guilty of not listening to certain artists because I don’t agree with their personal lifestyle. However, does their personal life have to do with their musicality, voice, or performance?
Did American singer Michael Jackson’s personal life cause his music to suffer? Not at all! So does it matter?
Hmmm… definitely something to think about! ©
