If you are a frequent visitor to my blog you know I love a good style inspiration challenge. Dressing up as Maleficent, Wolverine, or Diana Ross occasionally is just fun. Hey, don’t knock it until you try it. When I heard it was Elvis Week I had to get in on the action. For those of you who don’t know, Elvis Week is a 10-day celebration held in Memphis, Tennessee. Not sure why the title includes “week” if it’s 10 days, but I’m sure there is a good reason. Or is there?
I’m not the BIGGEST Elvis Presley fan, but I do recognize his talent. “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock” are quite the jams. His fashion got my attention as well. Elvis was not afraid of color, patterns, or embellishments.
I didn’t go out and buy anything at all for this post. I just scrambled through my closet and repeatedly thought, “Elvis, Elvis, Elvis…” because saying his name over and over apparently helps an idea come to mind. I finally came across something I think works… or at least I made it work.
I couldn’t have an Elvis inspired look without a leather jacket. Since the plaid shirt and jacket both have white and black in them they pair together nicely. I love that yellow is the pop of color in this look.
Elvis was a fan of white so my loose white jeans were fitting. For my jewelry, I decided to be flashy and selected a bold chain necklace and Rachael Roy earrings. I finished the look off with some oxfords. I even tried to style my hair Elvis-like for this look.
Of course I had to pop my collar, which made this look sing. I love how this is an everyday look gone Elvis.
How do you like my Elvis inspired look?
