Someone once told me of a young man whose father would repeatedly tell him, you will never be anything. You’re going to end up just like me when you’re older-a drunk. Stop dreaming boy, you’ll never accomplish anything. Did you know every negative word spoken is 16 times more powerful than one positive word? So for every negative word, at least 17 people would have to come by and say something positive to limit the negative impact.
This posting is inspired by national motivational speaker Les Brown, who has been encouraging me today. I have a confession to make to you all, although I know my destiny is great I’ve been down on myself lately. Asking how am I going to do this? How can I afford that? How? How? How? I see my dream as clear as day, but obtaining it seems impossible…or so I thought. I have to continue to renew my mind. You renew your mind by taking out the old thoughts and putting in the new.
When you are changing a baby’s diaper you don’t keep the dirty diaper on and put the clean, new one on top of that. That’s just nasty! You would never do that. Exactly the same scenario applies to your thinking. You have to put yourself on a personal daily regiment, where you constantly motivate and encourage yourself. Those negative thoughts will continue to try to creep back and you have to fight them. You can’t let them dominate. Greatness is a choice, you have to work on it.
Feed your mind what will propel you to greatness. As a man thinketh so is he. What are you thinking? You have to be conscious of what you are letting in your ear gate and letting out of your mouth gate. You have the ability to do more than you can ever imagine. Get some positive people around you that will push, challenge, and motivate you to do better. I encourage you to get motivational cds, tapes, or books. The more you hear it, the more you’ll believe.
I’ve took my own advice and have been listening to motivational speakers and saying to myself, “It’s going to get better.” “I’m wise.” “I will be wealthy” and the list goes on and on.I wrote my motivational sayings down and say them aloud everyday throughout the day. As Brown says, the people who make it in this world are people who look around for the resources and if they can’t find them, they make them. Those are no matter what people. I’m going to be a no matter what person. No excuses are allowed.
Brown says, the key to my success is ME! The key to your success is YOU! Go out there and face the world with confidence.
Refuse to be the man who was on his death bed and someone asked him, “Who would you be, if you could do it all over again?” The frail man answered, “I would be the man I never was.”
What do you think happened to the young man, I mentioned above? Well, he became a millionaire, because he detoxicated his mind. Now what are you going to do? ©
