Now I haven’t flown in an airplane since college. Nor have I ever been a fan of flying let alone anything that lifts me off the ground. I love gravity and thank God for it everyday. Ha! Even though I have my “feelings” about airplanes, they still amaze me though. I like them and all, but I don’t enjoy them. Anyways, once I’m smooth sailing in the air I’m cool. Just don’t try talking to me on the way up. You may get slapped. Ha! From the airplanes, airports and shuttles I traveled quite a bit last week. Oh and I learned a lot too!
So the first day I traveled to the Indianapolis International Airport to catch my flight to Orlando, Florida. I love our airport. It’s so nice. I ate at Café Patachou that morning. It was delicious! I didn’t take pictures because I was starving. After I ate it was time to board the plane and head to Florida.
Indy’s airport as far as décor is way more appealing. (Just saying!) But Orlando has us beat in store selections. They had the cutest Hello Kitty and Disney stores. I didn’t eat at the Florida airport, because I had to catch the shuttle to Port Canaveral soon afterwards.
The shuttle wasn’t too bad at all. This was the transportation to Port Canaveral, Florida. Which is where I stayed Wednesday night. The driver was informative about the hotel and things to do nearby. Plus he explained history of the city as well. Besides him blasting the air condition all willy-nilly the ride was good.
AK’s Flight Advice:
Bring something to do while waiting. I brought cards, and a magazine. Of course my phone was handy too.
Bring a jacket. It’s chilly in the airport so some sort of jacket or blanket is nice.
Sit near your gate number. Unless you want your name called over the speakerphone announcing your flight is about to leave without you. Hint: It happened to me. Ha!
Store wisely! You are only allowed ONE plastic bag full of 3-ounce liquids. Or end up like me picking and choosing at the last minute.
Be on time! You never know what may occur beforehand. Be at least 90 minutes early.
Get a Wheel Bag. It’s torture carrying around bags everywhere. Thankfully I had a strong man around.
Charge your phone. There are charging stations at the airport, but who wants their phone dead while waiting? Not I!
Have a ride there and back. Shout-out to Jake thank you.
Store wisely! You are allowed a suitcase and “personal item” which can be a laptop, purse, etc. Also, check the airline website and TSA website packing tips.
Print off boarding pass ahead of time. This is to avoid lines, but airports do have designated printing stations there as well. I just like having everything done.
Bring gum! On the plane I could barely hear anything unless I popped my ears. Gum keeps them clear.
Be prepared! Have all info readily available so you won’t have to dig it out from your luggage. No one likes the person that’s holding up the line.
Now I feel like I got this airport thing down. Do you have any advice? I’m sure I missed something. Ha!
