During this time of year, when the holidays are approaching, I tend to get sentimental. I do A LOT of reminiscing. Hence the picture above, don’t I look like I’m deep in thought? Yes? No? Maybe? Well that was totally what I was going for. The year is winding down people! Can you blame me?
I don’t know about you, but 2014 has brought so many changes in my life. (More on that in a later post.) You’ll probably thinking, “Calm down Adrian! The year isn’t over yet.” I know friends, I do. However, I still would like to let you in on a few things if that is all right with you? I’m getting ready to pack again and I came across my vision board.
Every year I write down a list of goals that I would like to accomplish on my vision board. I gather up old magazines, markers, stickers and other cute decorations. Then I write my goals down and plaster decor on a poster board to hang on my wall.
I know some of you are not into all that, and that’s okay, to each its own. This works for me. I still think it’s beneficial to write down your goals somewhere. I know things don’t always go as planned, but I still like to act like I have some control.
Here’s my vision board:
Goals for 2014
Take a class
I took dance lessons with my love at Pacific Grove Dance. It was one of my best birthday presents (thanks baby). I took lessons for about 3 months. Dreams. Came. True. Let’s just say I’m a natural (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). I learned how to do the Cha Cha, Waltz, Salsa, Swing, Lindy Hop, and Hustle. I was in dance heaven!
Contribute to other blogs
I didn’t do this as much as I wanted to, but hopefully more opportunities arise before the end of the year. Plus there is always next year (wink). However, I contributed to 14 Ways We Love Pie on Shari’s Berries blog. Who doesn’t love pie right? It was pretty cool to have one of my pies featured on the site. Pie is perfect for this time of year too, so check out those fun and easy recipes here.
Post at least three times a week
That may not sound like a lot, but it is. All my fellow bloggers out there understand right? Especially when taking photos, editing, and more is involved. It was not realistic for me to accomplish this sometimes. I was hard on myself about that and became stressed. I had to realize that quality is better than quantity. It’s okay not to post three times a week if time doesn’t allot for that. So I changed it to two times a week. If I posted three times FIST PUMP.
I recorded my first YouTube video years ago (like five years ago) but never uploaded it because I was afraid. I’ve wanted to record videos for a long time but when it was time to upload it to the web I just froze. That’s all in the past now because I have 21 videos up now on my channel. I can’t believe I have that many. I focus on fashion and DIYs. You can check it out here.
Increase Social Media Presence
Well I told you I joined YouTube. Plus, I have improved my Instagram presence. I’ve made some pretty cool connections on there too (some include my favorite bloggers and youtubers). Facebook has its days, still trying to grow my fan page. Slowly but surely. Twitter is pretty good. It was awesome when Wet Seal retweeted me, commented on my outfit, and watched my YouTube video. Made my day! All in all I’m still working on improving my social media channels. Follow my pages by clicking the links above.
This is the only one where pretty much nothing happened. Monterey is a small town and there are no opportunities here. However, I model outfits for my blog. Does that count at all? It’s not so much a focus for me anymore, but if the opportunity arises I may go for it.
Those were all my goals for this year. It’s cool reminiscing and seeing how it all is turning out. I am proud of little me. Remember not to be too hard on yourself. You are only human. Cheers to accomplishing our goals and learning things along the way.
