Christy Pastore has come a long way from her younger days of plastering fashion ads from GUESS, Benetton and Esprit across her bedroom walls. Now you can find her directing, organizing and styling fashion shoots.
“I loved seeing what the celebrities were wearing and always wanted the most fashionable clothes and stylish accessories,” boasts Pastore. “I was into brand names and always carried a current copy of YM magazine with me.”
Their mission is to provide quick hits of relevant fashion, style, celebrity, culture and beauty news, information and resources to complement the busy on the go lifestyle.
We are in this constant need-to-have-my-information-now-society. I wanted to give people their information with quick hits or a wrap up of the latest trends in the fashion industry, Pastore said.
“I also saw a need to introduce new designers and unique boutiques while furthering our readers’ knowledge of quality products,” Pastore explained. “With the growing popularity of social media, it was a way to really market FWU and reach everyone.”
It was certainly the right time for FWU as social media soared so did the viewers. The fashion blog is read in 97 countries including the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.
No day is ever typical in the fashion industry and Pastore certainly thrives off the lack of normality.
“That’s what makes it so fun! If all goes well, I’ll have three posts up in the morning and afternoon,” she said. “If I can get four or more things knocked off my to-do list in one day that’s a major accomplishment.”
Working for herself has never felt better.
“Honestly, the best part is it doesn’t feel like a job,” Pastore said. “I am lucky to be able to do something that I love and be a part of something that I am truly passionate about.”
Catch Pastore this Saturday on Weekend Sunrise, WTHR-TV at 6:45 a.m. She’ll discuss the Prom Trends for 2012. You don’t want to miss it!
