I decided to bring some attention to the items that make my day as a mom go smoother. They deserve a standing ovation. Because of these items I can get some things done every now and then.
I know we moms seem like we have more than two arms, but we have some tricks up our sleeves… and they work sometimes. Some of these tricks include the supplies I’ve listed below. I pretty much use these things everyday.
Oggie Bear (Booger Catcher)
Is it just me or does all the “booger grabbers” on the baby market look insane? Most of them do not fit into the babies nose comfortably. Working in childcare I knew what I didn’t want. The Oggie Bear is genius and I don’t know why I never heard of it. It slips in the nose perfectly. Aria barely notices we are digging in her cave when we use it. Thanks Oggie Bear!
Boppy / Baby Swing
Aria loves the automatic swing and will sleep or entertain herself while swinging. We choose the Graco Cozy Duet Swing it detaches, vibrates, and plays music too. The Boppy Pillow was a little entrapment at first. She can now wiggle out of it. She likes to lie on her belly in it while watching The Office or Disney Junior. It’s great to use during nursing and to help with her sitting up.
Thank God for this diaper storage trashcan. It eliminates the odor from her diapers. It has a pedal for easy access. Switching out the bags is easy as well and it stores A LOT of diapers. I was gifted this and it’s one of the most useful gifts. The Diaper Genie is awesome.
Angel Care Monitor
In our parenting class we were told over and over again of how our child could stop breathing while asleep. Scary! We were also advised not to let our child sleep on her stomach, because it could interfere with her breathing. Well Aria slept on her back for about a week. She likes sleeping on her stomach. For reassurance we decided to get the Angel Care Monitor, which motors her movements and breathing. It will alert us if she is no longer breathing, if she’s awake, and it makes this mommy feel at ease.
Diaper Cloth Cover
Why did my husband and I decide to put a cloth diaper over her regular Huggies diaper? I am writing a separate post for this because it deserves it’s own spotlight. It’s a game changer people. Stay tuned!
Another item that allows mommy to get things done and just another way for baby girl to be closer to my heart. She LOVES the Lille Baby Carrier I love it because my husband and I can use it because it’s adjustable. I can shield her from the sun or harsh winds with the attached cover. It’s comfortable to wear and grows with her. The even bigger bonus though is I can breastfeed while she’s inside. WIN. WIN. WIN.
Feed Baby App
This app is a lifesaver. Every time I feed Aria I just pull up this app and press a button and it times how long she feeds. You can also document ounces from the bottle. I record when I change her diaper, nap times, notes and much more. The app is free, but if you want to sync it with your spouse or someone else there is an affordable fee. Plus at her doctor appointments we are always asked how much she eats, naps, symptoms or whatever. No more umms… we know for sure with the help of this app.
I hope this list helps you moms out there deciding on which items to get. I was so overwhelmed at first trying to decide what to get Aria. There are so many choices out there. Just remember what really matters is that your baby is happy and healthy. All the baby gear is just extra perks.
