It’s the one time you can get away from all of the old high school drama and finally begin a fresh start in a new environment. It’s a chance for you to embark on your journey to becoming an adult.
In high school we pretty much had one mindset and that was: Go to school, do homework, hangout with friends on the weekends… and do it all over again. Sorry to break it to you but now that you’re in college, your life is going to flip upside down.
1. Studying comes first.
Back in high school, you barely had to study for tests and quizzes. In college it’s another story. Studying and Roman Noodles become your best friend.
2. Socializing should be prioritized after you’re finished with your responsibilities.
Going into college you’re going to want to party, socialize and hangout with everyone however, what you’ll quickly discover is to prioritize your time. Make a schedule and stick to it.
I can’t tell you how important it is to get the necessary amount of rest. If you don’t believe me you’ll be asleep during a final (been there, done it). It’s easy to stay up all night but hard to recuperate in the morning, make sure you give your body want it needs… relaxation.
4. Take advantage of great opportunities.
When in college you are able to travel abroad, to conferences or fun events. Go if you can. They’re great learning opportunities and you can make great memories as well. Oh, and it may look nice on your resume.
5. Have fun.
College can be stressful, but take time out to have fun. Host a movie night with the girls. Or plan a weekend getaway to a local town. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the hectic atmosphere but learn to breath and take time out to enjoy college life as well.
There you have it. College is an exciting transition and you will quickly adapt to your new beginning. Just remember to stay true to yourself and take advantage of your education.
Peace & Love,
