I did it! I deactivated my Facebook account and it was absolutely dreadful. I’m not exaggerating one bit. I told my mom life without Facebook is kinda I don’t know… BORING! My dependency on it is pathetic. The first week all I kept hearing was “Facebook, Facebook, Facebook,” in THAT order. I’ve been having this on and off itch to log onto Facebook.
So what have I been doing as an alternative?
Reading! That’s pretty much it.
Lol I know but I enjoy reading and haven’t been able to do so because I’m always so “busy.”
It may sound bizarre to you however, I have to say I’ve kinda got use to not having Facebook around now. It seems like I got rid of a burden and now I can take a huge sigh of relief. I’ve had more time to write which I adore and I’ve returned to my love of reading. It’s like I have all this extra time on my hands that I before wasted on Facebook aka the time killer.
I remember saying one day I’m a be on here (Facebook) for 10 minutes and I even set a timer…yeah right! I ended up being on there for 2 hours. Two hours. Complete madness. All I’m saying is those hours in the day that I so desperately needed, that I thought were being snatched away from me were always there. It truly feels like there is more time in the day to get things done.
My advice so far is to return to your first love. Do what you enjoy doing. Reach up there and dust off your book or whatever it is and dive into it once more. Relive the fun.
I’ve kept my word so far, but I still have a long way to go. This recovering Facebook addict is doing great. Of course I get an itch every now and then, but I replace that desire with something else. Well I’m about to go read.
Until next time. ©
