Local vintage fashionista, Joi-Lyn Thornton (pictured above), prides herself in shopping for her wardrobe at Goodwill, consignment shops and various thrift stores. This weekend she will host a fashion show to showcase her love for vintage clothing. Conveying the message that one can spend less money and still look fabulous. The fashion show will take place at First Mennonite Church, located at 4601 Knollton Road. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 or $5 with a canned food, which will be donated to a local charity.
“It’s been a long time coming, but I am very excited,” said Thornton. “I’m in love with vintage clothing. This fashion show will incorporate what people wear today with vintage. Expect a mixture of style on the runway.”
Attendees will also be able to purchase vintage items showcased throughout the fashion show. All clothing will be under $50.
“I just want people to open their mind to second-hand clothing,” she said. “It’s not that bad at all. I want to inspire people to be different with their style through vintage fashion.”
I’m certainly a fan of vintage gear. This should be a wonderful showcase. Support local fashion this weekend.
