Indiana is lacking in supply of jobs, especially when it comes to the field of journalism. When I first heard that I was discouraged and wished I lived in places such as New York, LA, or California.
However, I decided instead I wasn’t going to let that stop me. So I searched for opportunities here. Since my sophomore year in college I’ve worked with different publications. My goal was to work for a magazine when I graduated. I thought I was going to have to move out of state again. However, I found a magazine in the city that I love. I bugged the managing editor for an interview as in intern and in less than a week will be an official employee.
I didn’t let the lack of resources here stop me from pursuing my dreams. Of course, I will consider moving in the future to tackle more challenges. Right now living here in Indiana is nice because I’m not ready to move, just yet.
When I want something I don’t let anyone stop me. I’m convinced if people looked around them carefully opportunity awaits. It’s not going to fall in your lap, you have to go out there and take risks.
In the field of journalism experience is key. I refuse to let my surroundings limit me.
Don’t let your surroundings keep you in bondage, if you have the resources travel abroad. If not search around you. Lazy people don’t become a success, you have to work hard. In the long run you will appreciate it more.
Prayer and hard work does pay off. My journey has been pretty fun & fabulouz and I can’t wait to see what the future brings.
Seek and you shall find. The question is how bad do YOU want it? ©
