I had an entire birth plan written out when I was pregnant with Aria and although NOTHING went as planned, it was still a good plan. A major part of that plan was scriptures/positive messages that I wanted to say aloud with my husband throughout the labor process.
I instructed my husband by telling him, “no matter how tough it gets for me remind me of these scriptures.”
We barely made it into the delivery room before Aria was born so we didn’t use them. I did say these scriptures aloud throughout my pregnancy though. I was terrified of giving birth. These scriptures helped calm me and reminded me that my body was equipped for childbirth.
So today I’m sharing the scriptures and little prayers that helped encourage me throughout my journey. If I can do it, you can too. I hope the messages below help you as well.
“Lord prepare my heart for labor. I am walking in God’s will when I demonstrate patience. My little one is almost here.”
“I pray God’s will to be done, for a safe birth and a healthy baby… as painless and quick as possible.”
“This too shall past, it will all be worth it. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
“Children are a blessing from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Don’t fret over the changes, the upcoming sacrifices, but rather rejoice in the gift and the Giver.” Psalms 127:3 (My favorite one!)
“Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed.” Deuteronomy 28:4
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
“Keep your mind on Jesus and the peace that passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
You are stronger than you think. Remember things don’t always go as planned when it comes to childbirth, just trust that God will work it all out for your good. Your life is about to change forever. Babies are such a blessing!
