“When people say OMG I love your handbag they are complementing your best friend,” exclaims Jennifer Brickel. The designer of the luxurious Fashionjenn Handbags describes purses as a girl’s true companion.
Like your dear friend a handbag is always there, has everything you need and they’re fabulous.
“I’ve always been impressed with handbags and accessories,” she said. “They can add a lot of personality and bring new life to existing fashion pieces that you have.”
Brickel is a self-proclaimed accessory junkie from Indianapolis who loves to dive into the scene of sketching, drafting and cutting all to produce your “best friend.” Each carefully hand crafted, from pattern to finished piece using high quality leathers, animal-friendly materials, beautiful hardware and unique embellishments.
“There are only so many silhouettes that are functional for handbags,” she says. “Really thinking about versatility and a uniform look is very critical. I start off with a whole bunch of ideas and sketch, draw patterns and then edit because I tend to go overboard,”
Fascination started Brickel’s love for design. She studied fine art at the Indianapolis Arts Center and later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Communication/Graphic Design and Illustration from Collins College in Tempe, Arizona.
After several years in Corporate Hospitality Management and Freelance Design, she decided to fuse her love of art and fashion into a distinctive line of handbags. Her handbags are spacious and offer versatility. Definitely efficient and chic, some are even laptop friendly, fitting your 17” computer comfortably.
“The bags are perfect for people that are always on the go. Finding stylish laptop bags can be challenging,” she says. “I had a hard time finding something that I thought was fashion forward and still functional.”
Not only does Brickel produce her own vision of handbags, she also crafts them specifically for private clients. Her newest signature collection is being produced in Chicago.
“I don’t think you ever stop growing as a designer. I think if you stop growing you start to die,” she explains. “I have honed my craft well however, there is always something to learn or a change you can make.”
