For so long society has been worried about how to dress curvy women. However, it is time to throw the “rule book” out the window.
“Every woman deserves to feel good about themselves and have high fashion,” said Jodi Arnold. “Curvy women like to take fashion risks too. She wants the runway look. Give her fashion.”
Arnold is on a mission to do just that with the local launch of Eloquii – a full-figured line fashioned under her direction. Eloquii, a combination of the words elegant and soliloquy, is rightfully acknowledging the plus-size woman.
“A year ago I would have never thought I’d be doing this. I’ve found a greater purpose. This is so meaningful,” Arnold said.
She’s come a long way from receiving her first sewing machine at age 13.
“A year ago I never would have thought I’d be here. I’ve found a greater purpose in life. It’s great to be apart of this, and to find a place to combine that creativity to help people is wonderful for me,” Arnold said.
The inspiration does not stop at the clothing. The plus-size clothing section could use some sprucing up too. According to Arnold their section sometimes portrays the aftermath-of-a-tornado-look, while the skinny counterparts portion looks well kept.
“How you showcase fashion is just as important,” she said. “We are learning to understand the full-figured woman better and broaden our horizon. We have come along way, but there are still a lot of unspoken things we need to get over.”
Eloquii’s mission is to give plus size women the same fashion trends she is seeing in the magazines. They deserve to feel good about themselves and Eloquii allows that to happen. I’m really excited about this brand, Arnold said.
“I’m thankful people are starting to listen. It’s a great feeling,” she said. “The reward in trying is so much greater than just wishing that I did.”
