Of course I want to see the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Coliseum and all the sights in Europe that tickle everyone’s fancy. But I must admit I am overly excited to indulge in the food too. Yes thee Food, with a capital “F” to emphasize my happiness.
I. LOVE. FOOD.
So being the organized person that I am, I made a list of all the food I must try while in Europe. Now give me a break! I’m not just sticking to the food/drink options mentioned in this post. I’m going to try other stuff too. This is just a list of must-haves because I’m in Europe for goodness sake.
Bon’ appétit! I’m so glad I took French in high school and college.
I remember in high school my French teacher would always make crepes during our French parties. They were so delicious. Crepes are super thin pancakes and you can fill them with chocolate, fruit, or anything you like. It’s a French specialty! Maybe one day I will master the recipe.
Do I really need to explain myself? Well, I actually need do. I am not a drinker. The taste of wine is not what rocks my world. My taste buds are very picky when it comes to wine. In my trails I have discovered the sweeter the better. I can’t go to France and not try the wine though. Cheers to that!
I’ve never tried Crème Brulee. It looks interesting to say the least. It’s my understanding it’s a burnt cream, custard dessert. I’ve never seen anyone eat Crème Brulee in real life, but everyone on T.V. loves it. I’m excited to have a sugar high from this French dessert.
I recently had my first macaroon, and it was good. Not life-changing! From my recent investigations I have gathered that everyone and their momma LOVES macaroons. This is another treat that Paris does best, and I hope to be blown away. They look so delectable and cute too!
Coffee is an art in Italy. Now I am not a big coffee buff. When I get Starbucks my drinks are not too caffeinated either. I don’t like it, but I am in love with the smell of coffee. I absolutely adore the smell! Anyways coffee is a big deal in Rome and I want to partake in the coffee obsession. When in Rome right?!
Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream. The ice cream is made in a traditional Italian style. It’s supposedly richer in flavor and served slightly warmer than ice cream. Slightly warm ice cream sounds weird to me? But give me a big ole scoop!
Come on people I will be in Paris and Rome! I would be insane not to try their spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, or ratatouille. Lady and the Tramp, Ratatouille, and Julie & Julia are just some of the films that showcase those beautiful Italian dishes. Plus they are awesome movies! I’ve dreamt of this for too long. Oh and how could I forget about the pizza? YES!
Here’s a drink that I can showcase my pinky with. My research concludes that teatime is at least two hours in Europe. It’s a time to relax! Tea is a way of life. Again I am a picky tea drinker too. But I am willing to put on my big girl pants and try something new. Cheers!
I love bread! Croissants are no exception. This buttery, flaky treat always captivates me. It’s so darn good! I can’t wait to have croissants in Paris. It’s only the right thing to do!
Tapas come in all forms in Spain. They are appetizers in Spanish cuisine. Tapas can be anything from tuna, meat with sauce, or a slice of bread rubbed in tomato. They are pretty much served in every bar or café. I shall give into any temptation that comes my way.
If you can’t tell I am pretty excited to eat while traveling. I am stuffing my face and I am not apologizing for it. Have you traveled to Europe? Is there any other food or drink I should add to my list?
Thanks for stopping by friends!
