Don’t despise small beginnings.
Truth of the matter is we all have to start somewhere. No one that is successful just arrived where they are today. They all had to work at their skill(s). They all had to deal with rejection, faulty people, and setbacks. Some days you will have to learn how to be your own cheerleader. Rarely do people start off with a crowd of people behind them cheering, “We believe in you!”
Venturing off into unknown territory can be overwhelming at times and not having a support group can be disappointing. However, we must all remember a support system that never fails and that’s God. Although not a physical presence, He is an inner and outer presence that you can feel as if it were the wind passing you by. He is an ever present help in the time of need. As one gets older you truly discover who is with you or who is patting you on the back to find a soft spot to stab you in.
You can’t and will not grow if you don’t learn how to encourage yourself despite difficult circumstances. Too often we are in a rush to succeed. We must stop, take a deep breath, and remember it is a process. Sometimes a long and dreary one. Remember there is a pot of gold after the rainbow. If only we are willing to work diligently enough to reach the end. If only we are willing to withstand the rain, and wait for our rainbow to develop.
What is your rainbow today? My rainbow is starting my own magazine. Yours may be healing, obtaining a job, or financial security. Whatever your rainbow is you can reach that pot of gold at the end. Don’t faint, quit, or throw in the towel. You can endure.
Don’t worry about the crowds because they can fade away. Don’t worry about the stares because they will last always. You should only be concerned about reaching your destiny. Don’t become another ‘wishing I did that’ statistic. Don’t be another ‘shoulda’, ‘woulda’, ‘coulda.’ Go after your destiny, there is no excuse!
When it’s all over I want to be able to say, “I accomplished my purpose here on Earth, to the best of my ability.”
