You see I am the type of person that likes to dress up for the occasion. I’m the one that shows up at a parade like I should be in the parade myself. I’m all for making up reasons to dress up. So being the huge Marvel fan that I am, when I decided I was going to see Captain America: The Winter Solider I needed to bleed red, white, and blue. No I didn’t go to the theater in full costume. What, do I look 10? No, I decided to pay homage by doing a DIY T-shirt.
When: April 5, 2014
Where: Movie Theatre
Why: Who doesn’t love a good DIY? Don’t pretend like creating your own piece of art is no fun. That’s right I consider my shirt, art, even though I painted out of the lines a little. That’s what makes it unique right?
Check out the fringe action going on. You like how I threw in that spring trend right? It’s so fun! Adding fringes to a shirt is quite easy too. I think I might just go fringe crazy on some other shirts in my closet. I decided to color the front ones red. I had to have the famous shield for obvious reasons.
The U.S.A. on the back was inspired from Captain America serving in the military. The splattered paint surrounding it was drawn on after I made a smudge. I had to cover it up some kind of way.
Captain America is laid back so the jeans were fitting. The leather jacket was a score at Platoe’s Closet. It just says, “Captain America.” Oh of course I didn’t wear those heels to the theater. Those were strictly for the photos. I love my sparkly flats!
I think my shirt turned out great! What do you think? See us adults can dress up too. Check the DIY reveal here.
By the way I thought the movie was pretty good. I enjoyed the elements of true friendship echoing throughout the film. It showed that we can believe the best of someone even though we see them at their worst. Did you go to the movies to see Captain America this weekend? What’d you think?
