Click, click, click goes the camera as the teenage girl tries over and over again to get the right picture. The right angle. The right smile. The right look. She is conformed into a material girl, the “I’m only focused on my outward appearance girl.” So concerned with how she looks on the outside, her insides are rotting. Dry. Empty. Forgotten. She no longer cares for others just the things that will fade away. Hair. Jewelry. Clothes. So consumed with the media, she can’t accomplish her own dream. Oh and of course she’s up to date with the fashion trends, updating her wardrobe never ends.
Is it ok, to be this girl? Everyone wants to look nice right? Everyone wants to be told you’re beautiful. Nothings wrong with receiving compliments. Nothings wrong with wanting the latest trends. Just don’t let those things consume your life. Don’t let them interfer with how you treat others. Although it is rare, beauty can still be found on the inside and outside. Once you master the beauty on the inside, it radiates to the outside and then you are even more precious.
The next time you look in the mirror, don’t compare yourself to anyone. Don’t say negative things. Don’t pick out your flaws or say I wish I was like this or that. But say I love this or that about me, and that or this is what makes me unique. It is what makes me… me. That in itself is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! ©
